An attempted armed robbery in a Suitland home left one suspect dead and two others under arrest, police say.
At about 7:15 p.m. Friday night, Prince George’s County Police responded to a call about the robbery and shooting in the 2600 block of Shadyside Avenue.
Police say that when two masked, armed men forced their way into the apartment, one of the residents resisted and fought for the gun of one of the suspects, 26-year-old Dexter John Manigault of D.C.
When Manigault was shot in the struggle, he and the second suspect, 27-year-old Michael William Hall, fled to a getaway car, which was driven to a firehouse in Northeast D.C. to get aid for Manigault, of the 3500 block of Commodore Joshua Barney Drive in Northeast Washington. He later died in a hospital.
Police arrested Hall, of the 2500 block of Elvans Road in Southeast Washington, and 19-year-old Daquawn Lubin of the 1500 block of North Pierce Street in Arlington, Va. They are in custody in D.C. and face charges related to the robbery and are awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
Police say the suspects are cooperating with detectives. The case might be drug related, police say.
