(WJLA) - Anne Arundel County police say excessive speed likely contributed to a fatal crash involving a stolen motorcycle and an SUV late Saturday.

Around 10:30 p.m., police responded to Route 198 and Race Track Road in Laurel for reports of an accident.

Investigators say two motorcycles were traveling west on Route 198 at a high rate of speed. As the motorcycles approached the intersection, an Isuzu Rodeo was making a left hand turn onto Race Track Road.

One of the motorcycles struck the side of the Isuzu. The operator, a 17-year-old teenager, was thrown from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Isuzu, Mary Diane Gibson, 53, of Laurel, was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma. She is listed in serious, but stable, condition.

Police say the second motorcycle fled the scene. The motorcycle involved in the crash was reportedly stolen in Howard County.
