Adult and child struck by car in Prince George's County intersection

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (WJLA) - An adult and child were struck by a vehicle in the Oxon Hill-Glassmanor area of Prince George's County, Md. Tuesday night.

According to Prince George's County police, officers responded to the area of Indian Head Highway and Palmer Road around 8:43 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a pedestrian accident.

Upon arrival, officers said they found that two pedestrians had been hit by a Cadillac SUV in the southbound lanes of Indian Head Highway - an adult and an 11-year-old child.

Police said the adult and child were crossing the roadway when they were struck by the SUV. The driver reportedly remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Both the adult and child sustained injuries. The child was reportedly airlifted in "critical but stable" condition. The adult was transported in stable condition with leg injuries.

The intersection was shut down for approximately one hour while authorities investigated the accident.
