Fairfax County police search for fugitive who allegedly sexually assaulted teen girl
SPRINGFIELD, Va. (WJLA) - Fairfax County police are asking for the public's help in searching for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl on multiple occasions.
Police said Ricardo Delgado-Tobar, 48, of Abilene Street in Springfield, fled the area after being contacted by police in reference to a report the 15-year-old victim made about being assaulted by him.
The teenage victim reportedly told a guidance counselor at her Fairfax County-area high school that she had been sexually assaulted by the suspect on numerous occasions. Police began investigating, and contacted Delgado-Tobar for questioning, after which it appears he fled the area near his home.
"Detectives do not know if he is still in the area, or possibly outside of the U.S.," Fairfax County police said in a statement this week.
Police said the victim and suspect are known to each other.
In their statement, Fairfax County police reminded residents that it is illegal to assist a fugitive from justice by providing money or other resources to them, and that they are working in conjunction with the United States Marshall's Fugitive Task Force on this case.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Delgado-Tobar is asked to contact Detective Les Anderson at 703-246-7800 or Crime Solvers by phone at 1-866-411-TIPS/8477.
