Leesburg neighborhood shaken by gunfire

(WJLA) - Next to the bullet holes on the front door, a sign reads: “Do Not Disturb.”

According to Leesburg Police, someone drove by this home in the 100 block of Burnell Place Southeast – and opened fire.

Fortunately, residents were inside at the time, and no one was injured. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident in an otherwise quiet community, but haven’t released any further information behind a possible motive.

"We were able to do some legwork that night, and it was a rapidly evolving situation -- but right now, I'm not at a position to reveal anything as far as the investigation," said Lt. Jeff Dubé with Leesburg Police.

Officers are staying tight-lipped about the investigation, saying only that there is no immediate threat to the community. However, this doesn’t provide any comfort to this father of three who lives just down the street:

"That's really scary for the kids now," said Aboud Abuirshaid.
