Motorcyclist dies in 3-vehicle crash on I-95 in Maryland
CALVERTON, Md. (WJLA) -A motorcyclist is dead following a multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Prince George's County on Saturday evening.
Authorities haven't yet released the crash victim's name.
The three-vehicle crash happened just before 7 p.m. on Saturday in the southbound lane of I-95 near Powder Mill Road.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2003 Suzuki GSX-R 600 motorcycle was speeding southbound on I-95 when it struck a Volkswagen traveling in the same direction, Maryland State Police said.
The motorcyclist lost control and was ejected from the bike, landing in the middle of the highway where he was struck by a tractor trailer also traveling south, investigators said.
The crash closed some lanes of the interstate for several hours.
The Maryland State Police College Park Barrack, the Crash Team, and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division are still investigating the case, with the assistance of Prince George's County Police and Prince George's County Fire.
