NORAD jets intercept aircraft in restricted air space over D.C.
Two NORAD F-16 fighter jets intercepted a general aviation aircraft in restricted air space over D.C. Sunday. The aircraft was out of communications in the Special Flight Rules Area over Washington at about 12:30 p.m.
A statement from the North American Aerospace Defense Command says that as the NORAD jets identified and intercepted it, the aircraft was exiting the restricted area.
The aircraft resumed communications with air traffic control as it exited the restricted area.
