Quaneisha Torres arrested for running husband over with van
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WJLA) - A 21-year-old woman is in jail after reportedly driving the wrong way down the road and crashing into a guard rail during an attempt to run over her husband. It happened right off a ramp on a busy street in Fredericksburg.
Virginia state police reported that a trooper stopped and intervened Sunday night around 10:30 p.m. when he saw a female standing over a male on the ground on Dixon Street at the bottom of the westbound ramp from the Blue Grey Parkway.
Police say his wife came at him from the wrong way, and allegedly ran him down with her Chrysler van. She slammed him into the guardrail, and police say that when she saw him crawl out from underneath the van, she got out and tried to kick him to death.
According to witnesses, it was quite an incident.
"Didn't think something that crazy could go on down here, this is a family town," said Fredericksburg resident Anthony Johns.
"Probably mental illness -- probabaly something clicked that switch and went beyond what reality is," added Louvenia Streetbuie.
The victim, a 31-year-old man, was transported to Mary Washington Hospital by ambulance with multiple injuries.
The female suspect, identified as Quaneisha Domonique Torres, 21, of Fredericksburg, was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree homicide.
The state police's investigation determined that the man was walking
by the side of the road when he was struck and run over by his wife, who was following him in the van.
Torres is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
