D.C. road and weather closures on Thursday

(WJLA) - The Washington, D.C. region received between two and seven inches of rain on Wednesday, causing massive flooding, traffic delays and road closures from Maryland to Virginia on Thursday.

Due to weather conditions, the following streets are closed in the District of Columbia.

• West Beach drive and Rock Creek Parkway.
• Ramp on Massachusetts Ave NW to Rock Creek Parkway .
• Delcarlia Parkway off Massachusetts Ave and Westmoreland Circle NW.
• 3000 block of Park Drive SE.
• 3400 block of Water St NW (at Capital Crescent Trail).

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Rock Creek Parkway Closures

Due to impacts of recent flooding, visitors and commuters should be prepared for closures in and around Rock Creek Park and along the Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway through the weekend. Portions of Beach Drive are currently closed due to mud and debris, so drivers and cyclists are advised to plan alternate routes. Portions of the Rock Creek Park trail system are also currently closed to pedestrians and cyclists due to damage and debris.

Transit Advisory

MTA is reporting that all systems are operating as usual with a few bus diversions and moderate service delays:

MARC - Trains may be delayed 15 - 30 minutes due to flooding in some areas. Trains 890, 892 and 894 from Frederick to Washington have been cancelled due to a disabled CSX freight train (non-weather related). Trains 872 and 876 will make necessary additional stops and Metro will honor tickets. Buses will transport passengers to Monocacy for the Commuter bus 991.

Metro trains and Mobility paratransit are operating on their normal schedules.
