Fairfax County Public Schools considers changes to its student discipline policies
(WJLA) - Fairfax County Public Schools is once again considering making changes to its student discipline policies.
Under new proposals to be reviewed by the county school board, students facing disciplinary action could get lighter punishments and shorter suspensions, according to the Washington Post.
The board already approved several changes to the Student Rights and Responsibilities handbook last year following a lengthy review process that centered around the topic of parental notification. The new proposed guidelines would have only the most serious cases result in a suspension of up to five days rather than the current maximum of 10 days.
