Fairfax County School Board set to vote on FY 2015 budget Thursday

(WJLA) -The Fairfax County School Board will vote on adopting its $2.5 billion FY 2015 advertised budget.

The budget, which is a revised version of the one the board approved in February, is a net increase of $59.4 million, or 2.4 percent, compared to the 2014 approved budget, according to the Washington Post.

Under the budget as proposed by FCPS Superintendent Karen Garza, more than 700 staff positions would be eliminated and class sizes would increase.

Additionally, the budget includes $4 million in testing fees for Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate classes.
