(WJLA) - The Maryland State Police Department pulled an injured hiker from Sugarloaf Mountain in Frederick County Tuesday evening.

The injured 21-year-old had fallen 30 feet off of a cliff and because of the remote nature of the terrain as well as the hiker's injuries, an aerial hoist was required. The victim was hoisted into the Maryland State Police helicopter and flown to Baltimore's R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

All together, the rescue effort required approximately 50 first responders working for 90 minutes.
