Update: Howard Co. man charged for threatening police station

(WJLA) - A man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly walked into a Howard County police station and made threats against the officers.

The suspect, an adult male, entered the Southern District station at 4:40 p.m. Sunday afternoon and threatened the officers, referring to possible explosive devices in and around the station, according to police.

The man was immediately taken into custody. The police station, as well as an adjacent fire station and nearby businesses in a strip mall, were evacuated.

Howard County police officers and members of the Department of Fire and Rescue Services conducted searches of the police and fire stations, but no explosive devices were found.

Benjamin Parsons, 34, of Eastern Star Way in Clarksville, was charged with one count of making a false statement regarding a destructive device and one count of threatening arson.

Parsons is being held in jail on $100,000 bond.
