(WJLA) - Sherry Marts wasn’t targeted just once.

“My husband who bicycles to work called me from out here and said, 'You gotta come look at the car, he has hit us again.'"

The first time, the letters “MOV” or “MCV” were scratched into the hood of her car. The second time, it was written with a marker.

You don’t have to go too far from 12th Street Northwest and Alaska Avenue Northwest before you find tag after tag, written on everything from street signs to donation bins.

Police say they are investigating multiple incidents in the neighborhood, and that there is no indication that it could be gang-related. But it’s a situation that neighbors like Marts are growing more frustrated with:

“It’s upsetting first of all, and secondly, you don’t know what this might escalate to or what this person might be capable of next.”

Nearby residents are hoping that the vandalism stops soon.
