Pop-up restaurant in D.C. to serve up gourmet insects next month
(WJLA) - If you've ever wondered what roasted crickets or chocolate ant rounds taste like, you're in luck: a pop-up restaurant coming to D.C. is ready to serve up a menu full of gourmet insects.
Occidental Grill on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW will serve up free insects for lunch on June 4 beginning at 11:30 a.m. as part of an annual event called Pestaurant, according to ABC 7 news partner WTOP.
Ehrlich Pest Control North America, who is sponsoring the event, will donate $5 to D.C. Central Kitchen for every person who tries the insects, and $20 for each person who takes part in the day's pest-eating competition.
