William R. Pierce, of Sterling, charged with obtaining money under false pretenses in military charity scheme

(WJLA) - A man from Loudoun County has been charged in a military charity fraud scheme, according to police.

William R. Pierce, Jr., 52, of Sterling, was arrested on May 23 and charged with obtaining money by false pretenses. Pierce allegedly pretended to be a collecting agent with the Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation, which collects money to support military service members.

The charges are connected to a report of possible fraud that occurred at a Chantilly business in late April, police said.

Pierce, who is suspected of also using the alias Randy, may have solicited other businesses and asking for cash or checks to be made out to him.

Pierce is currently being held at Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
