Bao Bao the panda declines from invite to couple's Maryland wedding
(WJLA) – Newlyweds Sara Glickman and Ben Shlesinger, who were married at the end of May, had to celebrate their wedding without one special invited guest: Bao Bao the panda.
The couple sent Bao Bao, who lives at the National Zoo in D.C., an invite to attend their panda-themed wedding, but Bao Bao declined, according to the Huffington Post. The two were married at a hotel on the University of Maryland's campus
Glickman and Shlesinger decorated the invite with stickers and even offered to serve bamboo as a meal option for the giant panda
Although they were disappointed when Bao Bao declined, Glickman told Huffington Post that she understood Bao Bao not “wanting to steal the spotlight."
Pandas are not a new interest for the couple, who had panda masks for their guests to wear at their wedding and a panda cake topper. Shlesinger actually proposed to Glickman while they were on a panda-watching trip.
