Beltway outer loop in Maryland reopens after crash, fuel spill closed all lanes
(WJLA) - A tractor-trailer accident involving two cars shut down the Interstate 495 outer loop at Colesville Road in Maryland Monday morning.
A Maryland State trooper and a car that was pulled over on the side of the road by the trooper for a traffic stop were both struck by a tractor-trailer shortly before 2 a.m. in Silver Spring, according to Maryland State police.
The tractor-trailer then jack-knifed and spilled a large amount of fuel onto the roadway, closing all lanes. Both the state trooper and driver of the stopped vehicle suffered minor injuries.
All lanes of the beltway reopened shortly after 7:20 a.m. although residual delays remained.
