World Cup Fever takes Arlington and space by storm!

(WJLA) - What’s in a name? Well, everything when it comes to watching the World Cup at Summer’s in Arlington.

"This is football. It's not soccer. This is football," says Ignacio Bracamonte from Bolivia.

The battle lines have been drawn, and all that cheering seems to be eliciting a contagious fever.

"Like, 15-percent of the people called in sick today," said Rudy Gonzalez.

Gonzalez did not call in sick to his job with Arlington County – but he did save up cash and vacation days in order to be able to watch the game:

"I took off yesterday -- going to watch every game today. Girlfriend's on her way here, and tomorrow we got a room at the Marriott. And then we're here all the way through Sunday."

You think the World Cup Fever is intense just locally?

Go hundreds of mikes above the earth, where U.S. astronauts Reid Wiseman and Steven Swanson, along with German astronaut Alexander Gerst, play a striker and a goalie in the International Space Station.
