WASHINGTON (WJLA) – Last summer, Woody Allen released one of the year’s most important movies, “Blue Jasmine.” This weekend, he goes for light comedy in “Magic in the Moonlight.”

Colin Firth plays a world-famous magician who takes the challenge to unmark spiritualist Emma Stone—that’s the magic in “Magic in the Moonlight.” Set on the French Riviera in the 1920s, the movie goes for old-school comedy romance. Nothing heavy, but this PG-13 film is great fun and worth three stars.

In R-rated “Lucy,” Scarlett Johansson gets in the wrong side of a drug cartel; they sew some powerful stuff into her abdomen, but it starts leaking and turns her into a superhuman, mind-controlling, information-seeking killing machine. Thanks, but no thanks: one star.

And in case you need your Dwayne Johnson fix, he returns as “Hercules.”

This weekend’s best bets are “Boyhood,” “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” and “Life Itself.”
