Christopher Thomas Huott, former swim coach, founder of Maryland Suburban Swim Club, to plead guilty to child abuse
ROCKVILLE, Md. (WJLA) – A former local swim coach from Laurel accused of sexually abusing a young girl in the 1980s is expected to plead guilty to child abuse in court Wednesday.
Christopher Thomas Huott, 53, was arrested in April after a woman told police that he sexually abused her when she was seven-years-old in 1984. The abuse allegedly continued until the girl turned 12 in 1989.
Huott, who founded the Maryland Suburban Swim Club, was the girl’s swim coach and babysitter at the time.
Huott has reportedly agreed to plead guilty to one count of felony child abuse. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors will recommend Huott face a maximum sentence of 10 years in jail.
