Darrel Keith Parker, 29, was arrested Wednesday, according to WMATA officials. The 15-month-old infant girl is safely in police custody.

Police were searching for Parker after he allegedly abducted the infant from the Southern Avenue Metro Station at approximately 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The mother voluntarily gave the infant to Parker earlier in the day and then headed to court where she was granted her temporary custody of the child, according to WMATA spokesperson Dan Stessel. When she returned to pick up the infant and informed Parker about the custody change, he left with the infant.
