Five people were injured, some seriously, in the accident that happened about 4:45 p.m. Thursday at the Sunoco station in the 10600 block of Braddock Road just east of Ox Road.
The initial accident report from police, released Friday, indicates a trash truck driver rear-ended a car on Braddock road and then veered into oncoming traffic before coming to a halt in the gas station parking lot after crashing into more vehicles, some pedestrians and a gas pump.
Police said it was possible the truck driver, whose name was not released, may have suffered a medical condition that caused him to lose control of his truck. Neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the crash, investigators indicated.
