Members of the media were given a preview of the Silver Line Express bus service on Friday, ahead of Saturday's official opening.

Beginning at noon this Saturday, the Silver Line Express will take passengers between the Wiehle-Reston East Metrorail station and Dulles Airport every 20 minutes. The bus will operate every 15 minutes during weekday morning and afternoon rush hours, which are 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 7 p.m.

The Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority (MWAA) said bus fare will be $5 each way between Wiehle-Reston East and the airport, and is payable by cash or credit card.

Officials said the buses stop directly in front of the terminal at Dulles Airport, and inside the parking garage that is connected to the north side of the Wiehle-Reston East Metrorail station on the Silver Line. Travel time each way is about 10 minutes.

Service will operate between 6 a.m. and 10:40 p.m. on weekdays, and from 7:45 a.m. to 10:40 p.m. on Saturdays.

Officials said the Silver Line Express fleet consists of all-new buses that feature seating for 29, plus standing room for 14 passengers. Amenities on board include a large luggage rack, free Wi-Fi service, and QR codes passengers can scan with their smartphones to connect them to live wait times at the security checkpoints and flight schedules at Dulles Airport.

The new express bus service will replace the existing Washington Flyer Coach between the West Falls Church Metrorail station and Dulles Airport. That service will terminate at noon this Saturday.
