BRANDYWINE, Md. (WJLA) - Prince George's County police are searching for a driver who allegedly fled the scene of a accident Thursday night that killed Brendan Munnerlyn, 23, of Waldorf, his front-seat passenger, and seriously hurt his back-seat passenger.

According to police, at around 10:45 p.m. Thursday, officers were called to the scene of a fatal, single-car accident in the 16300 block of McKendree Road in Brandywine.

It appears a Ford Mustang was headed eastbound on McKendree when, for reasons that remain unclear to police at this time, the driver lost control, veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole.

The front passenger was ejected from the vehicle, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A rear passenger was seriously injured, and was transported to the hospital.

It appears the driver fled the scene on foot. Police are now searching for him.

The driver is believed to be an African American man, around 20 years old, 5'9" and 180 pounds.

"Preliminarily, speed appears to be a factor," police said in a statement.
