Today's pop-culture roundup includes a girl from uptown, buzz from the Teen Choice Awards, the weekend box office, our mystery music video and much more.

‘UPTOWN GIRL’: Of Billy Joel and his ex, Christie Brinkley, per Vanity Fair, “. . . Joel was already an established star when, in 1983, he wrangled top model Christie Brinkley to star in the light-hearted, dance-filled music video for the song. The two reportedly bonded over the experience with Brinkley, an accomplished dancer, walking Joel through all his choreography. The couple were married and had a daughter together, but divorced in 1994.

“. . . The song and its inevitable association with his marriage has, at times, been a sore subject for Joel. . . But he seemed to have put all that behind him (last) week at Madison Square Garden. Joel not only serenaded Brinkley during “Uptown Girl” (and dusted off some of that original choreography she helped him with), he beckoned for his camera crew to capture her smiling and dancing in the front row. Christie shared her own ecstatic reaction on Instagram, boasting about her ex, “He’s still got it!” ’’ http://vnty.fr/1kvmXs7

Paramount's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" beat expectations with a strong $65 million in the U.S. and Canada at the weekend box office, claiming the top spot previously held by Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" and notching the fourth-highest August opening ever.

“Heading into the weekend, most box office prognosticators predicted that the big-screen reboot of the 1980s crime-fighting-turtle franchise would earn between $40 million and $50 million. But "Turtles" drew a broader and more diverse crowd than expected, with exit data showing that 55% of the audience was at least 25 years old.” http://lat.ms/1kWqVur

“All are part of the vast trove of objects and documents held here by the museums, offices, archives and centers that make up the Smithsonian Institution.
