GM issues third recall on SUVs that can catch fire
DETROIT, Mich. (AP) - General Motors is warning owners of certain older model SUVs to park the vehicles outdoors until they are repaired because they could catch fire when left unattended.
The SUVs were included in a handful of recalls GM announced in late June. The warning was included in recall-related documents posted online Wednesday by safety regulators.
It's the third recall of the same vehicles in three years.
Water can get into the driver's side power window control switch and cause a short. The switches can overheat and even catch fire.
The latest recall covers about 189,000 Chevrolet TrailBlazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Ranier and Isuzu Ascender SUVs from the 2006 and 2007 model years, as well as the Saab 97-X from 2005 to 2007.
August may be the best month to get a deal on new cars
NEW YORK (ABC News) -- If you're looking for a car and waiting for year-end deals, wait no more. August might actually be the better time to buy a new car, according to TrueCar Inc.
The price for a new car averages $1,850 lower than those in December, which is traditionally believed to be the best time to buy a car, the car buying and selling site says
TrueCar says new car and truck prices during the past five years on its site in August have averaged $29,296, which is $169 lower than any other month.
TrueCar has said previously that better deals can be found at the end of the month than the start of the month, and weekdays are better than weekends. Why? With fewer people on the lot looking, the dealer is more willing to make a favorable deal.
Delta rated the best airline, up from sixth place in 2013
ATLANTA, Ga. (CNN) – Delta Air Lines is No. 1 in the U.S. when it comes to fewer canceled flights and mishandled bags.
According to Airfarewatchdog.com, which puts together an annual list based on airlines' performances, Delta also does better with on-time arrivals. The Atlanta-based carrier got top marks for most improved customer service as well.
Delta achieved the top overall score - a big improvement from the previous year when it was in sixth place.
