Meghan LaPlante, 14, and her father Jay, operator of the Miss Meghan Lobster Catch company, found the bright blue critter in one of their traps.
People who study lobsters say its blue color is caused by a genetic defect.
That genetic defect has saved the crustacean’s life. Instead of being dropped into a pot of boiling water, Meghan named it "Skyler" and donated it to the aquarium, where it has become a star attraction in just days.
Jay LaPlante said it was the first time he, or his daughter, has caught a blue lobster.
