Michael Steele reaffirms he’s thinking about another run for office in Maryland
ARLINGTON, Va. (WJLA) – Over the past several years, MSNBC political analyst and former Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele repeatedly has been asked the question of whether he would consider running for public office again.
The Republican’s answer almost always is the same.
In a word, sure.
Steele’s latest affirmation of the aforementioned intent came Thursday morning on NewsChannel 8’s NewsTalk.
Asked by host Bruce DePuyt whether he indeed would, well, consider running for public office again, Steele hemmed not and hawed not.
“Yeah, I love the opportunity of public service. . .” he said. “I enjoyed my time as lieutenant governor, and I look forward to how things play out this year, and next year we’ll take a look and see where Maryland is.”
Steele’s most recent race was for the U.S. Senate in 2006, when he lost to Democrat Ben Cardin. He was Republican National Chairman from 2009-2011.
