Montgomery County board of education cleared of criminal wrongdoing in expense controversy
ROCKVILLE, Md. (WJLA) - The office of Maryland's state prosecutor has cleared Montgomery County's board of education of criminal wrongdoing after investigating the board's spending and reimbursement practices.
An ABC 7 News investigation into those practices found that board members expensed thousands of dollars in meals, transportation and even at-home internet service. As a result of the investigation, Montgomery County's board of education made sweeping changes to its expense procedures. Included in those changes was the elimination of school district-issued credit cards to board members.
