The incident took place in Fairfax County, according to online court documents.

Werth originally had a hearing scheduled for last Friday, but it has been continued to Nov. 12.

"The Washington Nationals have been in communication with right fielder Jayson Werth regarding this situation for multiple weeks," a Nationals spokesperson said in a statement. "Jayson is cooperating with the authorities. As it is an ongoing legal matter, the team has no further comment."

Werth, 35, is hitting .279 with 12 home runs and 63 RBIs this season. He's been limited of late due to an inflamed right shoulder.
