WASHINGTON (WJLA) - Popular ridesharing app Uber is expanding its services in Washington, offering a "corner store" option to customers that will deliver more than 100 items to your door in 10 minutes or less.

Items available for delivery include common household needs like toothpaste, allergy medicine, makeup and diapers. As with all of Uber's business, all transactions are cashless and billed directly to the debit or credit card attached to the customer's account.

Uber's foothold in the D.C. area has grown dramatically in recent months after winning political battles over its existence in the District and Virginia despite vocal opposition from taxi drivers. The company recently hired David Plouffe, an adviser to Barack Obama's 2008 Presidential campaign, to help the company win its battle against what the company calls the "big taxi cartel."
