WOODBINE, Md. (WJLA) – A 75-year-old man was killed Saturday after a tree fell on him in Howard County.

The Annapolis man, whose name has not been released, was at a family gathering on Saturday when the accident occurred.

Police said the man was in “trauma arrest” by the time Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services (HCDFRS) personnel arrived on scene, meaning he was not breathing and his heart was not beating. Paramedics administered CPR and advanced life support, but the man could not be resuscitated due to his injuries.

Three of the man’s grandchildren, ages 9, 10 and 16, sustained minor injuries. Two of the children were treated and released from Howard County General Hospital. The third child was not taken to the hospital.

The Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center helped to assist and support the family in addition to a chaplain from the hospital and HCDFRS.
