The Commerce Department says the U.S. economy grew at a modest 2.4 percent annual rate last quarter. The weakest area continues to be government spending. It fell for the 10th time in the last 11 quarters.

Veronique de Rugy, senior research fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, discussed sequestration's role in the economic equation.
