On December 1st, a New York commuter train derailed and killed four people, after heading into a curve at 82 mph. Federal safety officials say a new technology could have forced the engineer to slow down or stop altogether.

Susan Fleming, director of Physical Infrastructure Issues for the GAO, discussed safety oversight at the Federal Railroad Administration with Capital Insider.
