Today on NewsTalk we discussed the Maryland Gay Marriage debate and whether the Redskins name is racist.

Today on NewsTalk, our “Vote 2012” debate series focused on Question 6, the Maryland ballot measure that would give gay and lesbian couples the right to marry. Del. Jolene Ivey (D-Prince George’s Co.) supports Question 6; Del. Tony O’Donnell (R-Southern Maryland) opposes it.

We then looked at whether the name “Redskins” is racist, a derogatory reference to Native Peoples that should no longer be used. We heard from former NFL player Jay Walker, who now represents Prince George’s County in the Maryland legislature. He believes the team should change its name. And we talked with Kansas City Star Public Editor Derek Donovan and Washington City Paper Editor Mike Madden.
