Moran on cliff deal; Ending slavery

Today on NewsTalk, we talked about the the fiscal cliff deal and the 150 year anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation

Today on NewsTalk, Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.) talked about congressional approval of a tax measure that kept the U.S. from going over the fiscal cliff. Although most Democrats supported the bill, Moran did not. He believes the White House failed to use the leverage it had over divided House Republicans.

In our second half hour we discussed President Lincoln’s signing, 150 years ago this week, of the Emancipation Proclamation. Our guests: Columbia Univ. history professor and author Eric Foner, Georgetown’s Christopher Metzler and Beth Erickson of the Journey Through hallowed Ground Partnership.
