Blogging More:

The medium is ever changing. Now, we're blogging...but not enough.

A blog is slang for web logging. But what the heck to write about...and write every day? From here on, I will be pulling my ideas from a variety of sources, like...one of our web managers gave me a link to help me learn about: "How to drive traffic to your blog." It's this guy Seth's website. not sure who he is...but I am sure he's more computer savvy than me. Plus, he blogs a lot. HOWEVER, But when I read the advice, I was confused (which happens easily with me). Take a look at the link.  Here are my thoughts. Give me yours.

2. Be topical... write posts that need to be read right now.

OR

5. Be timeless... write posts that will be readable in a year.

So write a ‘timely’ post that matters a year in the future?

11. Don't write about your cat, your boyfriend or your kids.

OR

13. Write about your kids.

This is really confusing. Good thing I don’t have kids.

14. Be snarky. Write nearly libelous things about fellow bloggers, daring them to respond (with links back to you) on their blog.

HOLY CRICKEY! Nearly libelous might nearly give our attorney a heart attack.

21. Use photos. Salacious ones are best.

Near nudes of me on the beach in Hawaii? Finally, I have an outlet!

27. Include comments so your blog becomes a virtual water cooler that feeds itself.

OR

34. Don't include comments, people will cross post their responses.

I am more lost than Jack, Hurley, Kate, and Sawyer.

29. Highlight your best posts on your Squidoo lens.

What the hell is that?

41. Post on weekdays, because there are more readers.

OR

43. Post on weekends, because there are fewer new posts.

Or just post on everyday that ends with the letter ‘Y’.

So, was Seth being funny? Or was he serious? Seth, you out there? Inquiring minds want to know.

Carol, Constantly on back order is always a red flag, but not necessarily a crime. If an item is in high demand, the company can do only so much.

Can you order this item from another company? Maybe find it somewhere else. It seems the company does not meet your standards, so move on. That's the best advice I can give you.

I too, hate the practice and would not give them my money. As for the ole bait and switch, not really. They aren't giving you another substandard or different product so you still have your inital investment. Move on.

Carol
What do you think of a company that has items CONSTANTLY on back order? Can I accuse them of bait and switch because apparently they never have the item in stock. They tell you its on back order for 2-4 weeks. Then they tell you its in process. Then after 6 weeks of not getting the item, they cancel your order. They still have the order on the site so you instantly order it again. This process goes on 3 to 4 times since August. I just received another cancellation notice and now the order is no longer available. Of course everytime I reorder I"m that far down the list of people who ordered the days before I had to reorder.

There is no way to keep track of complaints because every complaint gets buried in your order number. Once the order is cancelled there's no record of complaint. There is no priority system that if you've been waiting for something so long its been cancelled, there is no way to put you higher on the list in front of people who have just ordered it for the first time!

What can I do about changing their processes and eventually getting my back ordered item. Personally I just think they never had enough of these items in stock in the first place! That's why I'd accuse them of the old bait and switch!.

What do you think of this practice?
