DUI SUSPENDED NON PAYMENT OF FINES!

We are about to launch an investigation into what I will call "Responsibility".  It's about catching people whose licenses are suspended, coming out of court and getting behind the wheel.  They "have to work". They "had no choice". They "had no other way to get there". These are excuses and don't excuse the behavior.  We're talking about people who've already had their licenses suspended, are back in court charged with driving while suspended, who then walk out to the parking lot and put their keys in the ignition.

Some of you may think, so what? Leave them alone!

Since when did consequences for our behavior no longer matter? What's happening to us as a society when we tolerate it?

I watched as one young kid got up and told the judge he had no valid driver's license and didn't drive to court. Then he leaves, goes to the far end of the lot and starts to drive.  He had his license suspended for reckless driving, is charged for driving again with no valid license and is bold enough to lie to the judge. He's only 23!

Responsibility begins with each of us. I am still an idealist and still believe in right and wrong and I hope that I have the wisdom to know the difference. That's why I'm in this job.   It's about responsibility; in business, in customer service and keeping commitments. If you seek justice then you must live a just life. I just hope these same people who commit and tolerate this behavior don't come knocking on 7 On Your Side's door for help when they feel someone has done them wrong.

We all make mistakes.  It's how we handle them and the choices that we make that ultimately define us.

To Black Man in Prince William

I do want to hear your story and the reasons you have for admiting to breaking the law. Our producer will call you to get you on our show "Inside 7 On Your Side" tonight at 8:30pm on NewsChannel 8.

Black Male in Prince William
I have been stoped over 50 times, given 35 citations, 22 of them were dismissed, noelle prossed or not guilty and all because the local law enforcement chooses to abuse their authority.

I have written the Attorney General, The Governor, the Commonwealth Attorney, filed a complaint about this to the local police and even contacted associated press to get some light. Because of the lack of local goverments to protect us from this type of selective enforcement and police profiling, nothing gets done to the innocent driver. We just become victims of malicious prosecutions and racial profiling. Do to this bias Virginia is polarized against fair driving laws and makes attempts to see our story from a govermental perspective were innocence is never given a chance. Through the suffering of others we are stereotyped into never receiving fair accounts of wrong doing done by the badge but only for thoughs behind it to sometimes abuse it and suffer nothing. We are the people and we built America, not the police.

Unjust laws will be habitualy broken expecially when people are wrongly convicted and jail population doesn't match the census ethics ratio. This Black History month, try to see the highway from a young black male perspective. Just a thought.
