So I am leading the league of colleagues in moves made with 17. I know, I know...I should be ashamed of myself. But i haven't made any more transactions this week. So that's a good sign.
I made some early season maneuvering to pick up Rich Harden, Carlos Gomez and Brad Hawpe. All for long term success, although Rich Harden and "long term success" is an oxymoron. What I'm proud of is the fact all my moves have paid off. From the beginning till now maybe 3 moves were wastes, but we aren't geniuses here, otherwise we would be working for a REAL team.
Anyhow, last time I wrote about the pitchers. Sooooo this time its about the hitters. And man alive they are awakening from their sweet early season slumber (except Andruw Jones..nuff said). Matt Holliday has turned it around nicely as well as his teammate, Hawpe(although not as great a pace). Another interesting name that has remained on the waiver wire is Johnny Damon. Yes...the old caveman sans the oogles of man hair has revealed his old self. He's batting a solid .286 with a .901 ops and 66 total bases. Not bad for a guy who came into the season part of a platoon format. My theory on why he's still available...simple. He's Johnny Damon, it's not gonna last. Duh! Also gotta hand out props to Lance Berkman and Hanley Ramirez (whose gonna spend his new contract faster than he can round the bases). Both guys were steady during April, but are straight BLOWIN UP this month! And I gotta show love to the home team and Mr. Ryan Zimmerman. I had him and I let go of him. Should have known better. He's horrible in April, but a beast the rest of the season. Watch him end up with 28 homeruns, 105 RBI and a .850 OPS....regrets.
Month 2 will belong to the hitters...and my prediction is so will June and July, but come August the pitchers will be back and will ride teams to championships. Don't you love the way Fantasy can parallel an actual championship run. Go Figure.
