Home-Ice (Dis) Advantage
category: Capitals

Everybody makes such a big deal about getting Home-Ice Advantage in the NHL Playoffs. Teams play 82 games to fight for it. It's supposed to a big benefit. Well, when it comes to the Capitals, forget about it. In fact, just the opposite is holding true. The Caps one win - and best game by far - in the Rangers series came last night at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers two wins? At Verizon Center. Remember last year's game 7 win by the Flyers? That was at Verizon. And the Caps big win in game 6 to stave off elimination? That was in Philadelphia. That's five straight wins by the road team when it comes to Caps playoff games. Why is this happening to the Caps and their opponents (this is not a league-wide phenomenon, according to my buddy and hockey guru John Yerrick.) Who knows? But I'll say this: My money is on the Caps in game 4 at MSG.

Anyone ever think ot getting rid of Snyder and Casserly? Would be a tremendous improvement in the team. The latest bit is with the quarterback. If I were a player on the team, I would watch my back so I don't get knifed by management.

Tim, Tim, Watch you everynight on the news. Got a question that I've not heard anyone address. Why would the Redskins be going after another college-level, non-professional level tested QB when they have Colt Brennan? Do they still have Colt? If so, why do they need another QB right out of college? Redskins need a tried and true, professional-level, seasoned and tested QB; not more hot-shot college kids that aren't going to do anything for the team for at least a few years. Any thoughts on this? Thanks. Regards, Gene

PS: Let's go CAPS!
