Hottest Team in the NFL?
category: Redskins

The Redskins are arguably the hottest team in the NFL. They are definitely the team to beat in the NFC East since all their road games are now behind them. The skins have won four straight ball games. They have beaten Dallas and Philly on the road. Those clubs now have to come to Fed-Ex Field. As you know, the next three teams on the Redskins schedule are a combined one and eleven. This all sounds great! The reason for this success is simple. Clinton Portis is the number two rusher in the NFL. He's run for 514 yards with four touchdowns and NO FUMBLES. Jason Campbell is the only quarterback in the league who hasn't thrown an interception. The defense is solid, stable and aggressive. The other reason for the  Redskins success is the unpredictability of Jim Zorns play calling. Defensive coordinators can't figure out his tendencies. He certainly didn't play the percentages at Philadlphia when he decided to go for it on fourth and one with 2:48 to play. If the skins had failed the Eagles would have had new life! Clinton Portis called the draw and he made sure he got enough for the first and locked it all up. Twice in the last four games JZ has faced fourth down situations with under three minutes to play and he went for it. Things certainly have gone well for the redskins and the future is bright for Washington. But before we all get intoxicated by this early season success, remember that in 1978 Jack Pardee was the first year coach here in DC and the skins started six and oh. They finished eight and eight. It is still very, very early in the season. Stay focused and play football!
