It was a scary sight at Redskins practice today. 2nd round pick Devin Thomas was carted off with a hamstring injury. At the time we didn't know the extent of the injury. All you kept thinking was, here we go again. Lucky for the Skins, the injury was not as severe as the ones to defensive ends Phillip Daniels and Alex Buzbee. The good news is, it's just a strain to his right hamstring. He'll be out two weeks. Then he'll be re-evaluated.. Thomas will likely miss the Hall of Fame game and he'll miss some valuable time on the practice field. But it's better that he takes his time and heals up, rather than rush back. Hopefully, the Skins can stay injury free for awhile. Everyday they're probably holding their breath the way this first week has gone.
On the flip side, another second round pick is turning some heads. Wide receiver Malcolm Kelly has looked very good this first week. He's really impressed Santana Moss.. Today, Moss compared Kelly to Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson. Johnson is one of the best receivers in the NFL.. Moss knows Johnson well from their days at the University of Miami. If Kelly turns out to be as good as Johnson or even close, the Redskins will have a dynamite player. Malcolm is also terrific with the media, which is always good. But for Santana to compare Malcolm to Andre Johnson, all you can say is WOW !
