The Redskins started their final series of organized team activities (OTA's) this week. The big story is the absence of Shawn Springs. But the skins will tell you that Shawn has worked out in Arizona the last two years and these workouts are not mandatory. However, this is a new coaching staff with schematic changes and Shawn is a 33 year old twelve year veteran.....come on Shawn, you should be here!
The Nationals started a three game set with the St.Louis Cardinals tonight (in the rain).......This is the start of a seven game homestand and the Nats have to somehow manage a successful week. They are being decimated by injuries; Ryan Zimmerman was placed on the 15 day DL and he becomes the 8th player to go on the DL this season. Half of the Nats opening day roster is /or has been injured. The Nationals are banged up and beaten down.......they have to dig deep this week and get some hard earned wins.
I can't wait for Saturdays running of the Belmont to see if Big Brown can become the first Triple Crown Winner since Affirmed back in 1978. You can watch the race here on ABC-7.
