It was a clear brisk night at the ball park tonight , it felt like fall,so it was fun to day dream what a playoff game would be like in Washington's new play-pen. The great part about the night was that it all set up as a fun game to watch and it certainly played out that way. Tom Glavine on the hill against Washington's Tim Redding. After the Braves took the lead one nothing, Ryan Zimmerman and Nick Johnson hit back to back homeruns. I have to tell you that a Ben's Chili Bowl half-smoke (with the works) combined with the long ball is ....wow... a pretty good combo. Ryan Zimmerman is traditionally a slow starter and he is now knocking off the rust. Zim went 3 for 4 with a dinger, double and a single. He has now raised his average to .241. The Nationals record is now 10 - 17 which is five and a half games back in the east. Playoffs? Well there's a lot of baseball yet to be played over the next five months.....so I can dream can't I?
The Wizards and Cavaliers are all set for game 5 in the best of 7 series and it is time to just shutup and play. I am so tired of the players trash talking about Lebron while he tears them apart. I know, trash talking is part of the game and certainly I did it when I played....but not while I was getting my butt handed to me.
Alex Ovechkin is one of the three finalist for the Hart Trophy. He is the NHL's leading scorer and he leads in points.....there is no question who the MVP is......Alex the Great. When he wins it he will be the first Washington athlete to win an MVP award since Joe Theismann did it back in 1983......atleast among the four biggest teams,Skins,Caps,Wizards and Nats.
