It's hard to watch the Nationals right now. I don't say that because they're losing, but because they've been playing with no emotion! Come on! When I watch guys play baseball I want to feel their excitement. I want to see them compete. I want to see them bouncing around, communicating, belly whoppin into bases, stealing bases, using the hit and run, being aggressive and playing like the ole' Gashouse gang. You don't have to be a great baseball team to be fundamentally sound and have a high baseball IQ. I'm still upset about that double steal against the Nationals the other night. That shouldn't happen in the "Bigs".....especially stealing home! How about the Nats on the very next play not knowing that there were three outs? Right now they are in a funk. I say this tonight despite the fact that they are beating the Cardinals 8 to 6 in the 8th inning. Washington is 12 games below .500 and the number of empty seats continues to grow. I was a member of the Washington Senators knothole gang. I've seen two teams leave Washington and all of the signs are the same. I don't want to lose another team.
Now, with all that said...... The Nationals seem to be doing quite well with their minor league talent. Today they drafted Aaron Crow, a junior from the University of Missouri. Hometown: Wakarusa,Kansas, Height/Weight: 6-3,195, Bats/Throws:right ....Scouts say that Aaron is one of those guys with the talent to eventually be a starter high in the rotation. He is old enough to be fast tracked. Time will tell.
Does it get any better than the Lakers and Celtics for tradition? I am thrilled the finals are on ABC-7.
The star of the week is still Big Brown. Two days until the Belmont and maybe the first Triple Crown Winner in 30 years! You can watch it all here on ABC-7.
