The cancellation of fan appreciation night at Nationals Park pretty much summed up the inaugural season of the Washington Nationals Park; rainy and dismal. At least the rain postponed the Nats from collecting their one-hundreth loss of the season. Seattle has reached that milestone already, making them the worst team in baseball, not the Nats. Hopefully this rain will wash away a season of injuries and bad luck/karma/play. Since Camden Yards opened in '92, 17 teams have started up new ballparks. Nationals Park has drawn fewer people than all of them. Will things be different next year? Can DC become a baseball town again? Maybe they should have more fan appreciation nights. And free ponchos.
