I drove 545 miles in the last 24 hours just to talk with Virginia Tech head football coach Frank Beamer. Alex Parker (executive sports producer), Scott Krevit (photographer) and I were told that we could get 20 minutes with coach Beamer if we were on campus, set to go, at 11am Tuesday. So we were there, set and ready to go at 9:30 am. Frank was very nice and gave a polite interview. The Hokies will be talented but inexperienced this year. The three of us laughed all the way to Blacksburg and back. We told stories, listened to music and played trivia all the way up and down route 81. Great time!
The all-star game was fun and painful at the same time. It was great theatre with the good , the Uggla and 15 innings. Dan Uggla had three errors, he went 0 for 4 with 3k's, hit into a double play and left a runner on third (twice). Christian Guzman of the Nationals did have some nifty plays!
When I talked (last week) about Brett Farve being the perfect fit for Washington, I didn't know it would hit such a nerve. I have had all kinds of comments from viewers. But again I say; I was just trying to fuel the fires and stir the pot. Jim Zorn was a Packer. He coached under Mike Holmgren and runs Mikes west coast offense. Brett knows that thing better than Zorn. Dan Snyder loves stars and pays big bucks. Just a thought......
