OK... first there was the "LeBron's overrated" comment from DeShawn Stevenson. That was bad enough. But then came yesterday's flagrant foul - you know - the one where Stevenson went through LeBron's head while "making a play on the ball." Come on. Anybody could tell that the "play on the ball" was in name only. The Wizards were up in the second quarter when DeShawn used his forearm to swipe LeBron in the head. James's headband
flew off - and then - James
went off. I'm sure it was no coincidence that LeBron promptly took over the game, leading the Cavs on a 20-something to whatever run, and a big lead at the half. Here's the deal: there are some folks out there that you just don't get mad, and James is one of them. Remember when the Knicks would say something about Jordan, and however innocuous the comments, you just knew Jordan would make the Knicks pay - and he did. And remember a couple of years ago when the Stephen Ames guy said Tiger was "beatable." Technically Ames was right. Tiger is beatable. But THAT DOESNT MEAN YOU HAVE TO SAY IT! You say that to Tiger and THEN HE IS UNBEATABLE! And this DeShawn - LeBron thing is the same way. I really think the Wizards would have won yesterday if that hard foul doesn't happen, and LeBron doesn't have that extra incentive, that extra chip on the shoulder, that extra drive. But it did, and now the Wizards are one and done. Funny how the fans at Verizon have toned down their "overarted" chant. Apparently they've figured it out. James is hard enough to beat when he
isn't mad/motivated... haven't the Wizards leanred that the hard way the last two playoffs? If you want to make somebody mad, make Wally Szczerbiak mad - or the Varejao guy, just not you-know-who.
