After a pleasant day through the D.C. area this afternoon, clouds and the chance for rain will be back by Thursday. Tonight, a few clouds can be expected with lows in the 20s in the suburbs and lower 30s around town. Thursday will feature increasing clouds through the day with highs around 50 degrees. The clouds will stream in as a warm front moves through the region. This same warm front will allow for the chance of showers by the late afternoon and evening hours.
Rain will be likely through Thursday night into Friday morning as the following area of low pressure moves through the mid-Atlantic. Rain may be heavy at times and a rumble of thunder is also not out of the question, especially southeast of the city. Rain should come to an end around lunchtime on Friday and partly sunny skies along with breezy winds will be likely through the rest of the afternoon on Friday. Total rainfall accumulations should be around an inch, which is good as the area still has moderate drought conditions.
The weekend ahead will feature partly cloudy skies and mild temperatures with highs in the upper 40s Saturday and lower 50s Sunday.
